Wheatlands is a beautiful Karoo working farm that is steeped in 8 generations of family history. Wheatland’s Country House, or The “Big House” as it is known to family, was built in 1912 by Arthur Tucker Parkes for his wife Lily during the ostrich feather boom. The house boasts high, pressed ceilings, wood paneled walls, beautiful handcrafted stained glass windows, book lined corridors and antiques that have been collected through the generations.
Accommodation is exceptionally comfortable in the large, antique furnished rooms. Snuggle up in the corner with a book and enjoy the house’s peaceful atmosphere, go for a walk in the veld and appreciate the natural beauty of your surroundings.
